For those planning a wedding, sometimes thinking and planning out the small details, such as which wedding favours to send home with your wedding guests or which wedding guest book you would like to have your guests sign come easily and you can check off one more item off the "To-Do" list. It sounds funny, but sometimes brides don't spend as much time as they should on themselves.
Of course, brides have an idea of what styles of wedding dresses they prefer and may even know which pieces of jewellery they would like to wear on their wedding day. But what about all the small details associated with the bride? Hair up or down? Open or closed toed shoes? Veil or no veil? There is more to looking absolutely stunning on your wedding day than just the wedding dress you select. These other details put it all together and it is important not to forget them and they will truly complete your bridal look.
Often brides overlook how important a veil is to the entire wedding ensemble she is wearing. Just as there are hundreds of styles of wedding dresses, there are hundreds of styles of veils as well. Here are some tips on how to go about selecting the perfect veil for your wedding day:
The Wedding Dress - It is essential that the focus should be on a bride's dress and that the veil is simply a gorgeous adornment to the dress. Therefore, if your gown is ornate, a simple and fuss-free veil will would be ideal. If your gown is rather simple, then you could carry over a more embellished veil. The object is to not take away from the other. The gown and veil should compliment each other.
Veils, Veils, and more Veils - There are many different styles and lengths of veils. Some styles include: multi-tiered veils, coloured veils and embellished veils. Various lengths include: shoulder length, elbow length, waist length and floor length just to name a few. Again these are all factors to consider when trying to compliment your wedding gown.
Now it is not just about accenting your wedding gown with your veil, but also complimenting your overall look. Ask yourself what type of face and body shape you have. This plays an important role on which veil you should choose. For example, if you have a more of a round face, look for a veil that does not have too much fullness as you want the veil to take away from the fullness of your face. Also, choose a veil that may be about elbow length to draw the eye downward. For body shapes, the same principles apply. You want the veil to proportion out your body. If you are a shorter bride, try an elbow length or waist length veil to balance your height out.
Also remember there is no hard and fast rule that a bride should wear a veil. Nowadays some brides choose to wear a hair fascinator or hair clips/accessories instead.
As you can see, choosing a veil or hair piece that is appropriate and fitting to the overall wedding day look truly makes any bride look her best.
